#64 September Finance Summary

So, did we stick to the budget?

YESSS we did. We had a discussion at the start of the month and followed it through and it's great to sit here and say for only the second time - since I started collating our financial data in July 2015 - have we stuck to our budget.

We did it once in February this year but that was just because of a deferred mortgage payment when moving house. This time it's real and feels great.

If no, why not?

n/a :)

Did we earn more than we spent?

Yes we certainly did. For the 5th month in a row.

£591 earnt more than we spent.

Any positives / milestones?

  1. under budget!
  2. 5th month in a row spend less than earnt
  3. Savings including pension increased to above £23k
Lessons / thoughts?

Did well to keep an eye on this throughout the month and hold back any spending.

Will continue to do this in October.

We've now got a £500 cushion of 'emergency savings'. We have until January 2018 to ensure we've got £1,100 saved up to cover the HMRC re-payment due. So better get Matched Betting.

Next month, couple of aims;

1. Again be below budget!
2. Savings excluding pension to be above £3k.

Effect on overall debt?

Student loan remains paid off :)
House loan remains paid off :)
Every day card balance is £1,246.69
0% Carpet loan balance is £1,683.73
HMRC debt - due 31/1/18 is £1,080.68

#63 September Fitness Summary

What goals did I hope to achieve this month and did I achieve them?

  1. Do 8 unbroken chin ups. Achieved.
  2. Set new PB for half-angie. Achieved.
  3. At least one night per work trip do a workout, every trip. Failed entirely.
  4. Add in one new excercise to 'portfolio'. Achieved.

Any lessons / thoughts?

Struggled again for consistency starting the month strong but ending not that motivated. Working abroad during the week half the time and coming home for 730pm is giving me too many excuses.

In week one wiped nearly 8 minutes or 13% off my previous PB for the Half Murph. Was absolutely dead at the end of that!

Week two was a stonker setting new PBs in Half Angie and 21,15,9 PU/Burpees,  and in the process I finally did 8 unbroken chin-ups for the first time!

Week 3 and 4 were fairly poor only two tracked excercises - though did enjoy a good run on the heavy bag, need to pick up the motivation and momentum going into October.

PBs.
